What is a Vapour Barrier Tape?
A specialised adhesive material designed to tightly seal joints, penetrations and openings in the building envelope, especially in passive houses or energy efficient construction. These tapes, like those in the 3M™ All Weather Flashing Tape range, prevent air infiltration and water vapour diffusion, protecting the structure against moisture, mould and energy loss. Manufactured with high-tack acrylic adhesives and strong backings, they are applied to windows, doors, structural joints and penetrations, ensuring a watertight seal that meets standards such as Passivhaus (maximum 0.6 ACH50). Their resistance to extreme conditions and their compatibility with materials such as wood, OSB or concrete make them a key solution for sustainable construction.
